Frequently Asked Questions

Come as you are. Prepare with care.

Answers about the walks, the community, safety, faith, and what to expect before you join us.

What is A Hike With God?

A Hike With God is a welcoming, Christ-centered outdoor experience shaped by creation, reflection, meaningful conversation, prayer, and community. It is a program of Guided Warriors.

Do I have to be Christian to participate?

No. Our center is Christ, but this is not a Christian club or a test of belief. People who are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, spiritually curious, uncertain, or from no formal faith tradition are welcome. We ask everyone to honor the shared space and one another.

Will there be prayer or Scripture?

We generally pray before and after a shared walk. Scripture may be offered when spiritually led, and some gatherings include a reflection prompt or Selah pause. Participation in speaking or sharing is always invitational.

Are beginners welcome?

Yes. Distance, elevation, terrain, and pace vary, so read the walk description. Start with First Walk and What to Expect, then choose a gathering that matches your present ability.

How do I prepare?

Visit Prepare for the Trail for safety, weather guidance, the packing list, waivers, and Leave No Trace practices.

What should I bring?

Water, closed-toe footwear with traction, sun protection, identification, a charged phone, personal medication, and weather-appropriate layers are essential. Review the complete Packing List.

What happens if the weather is unsafe?

We may shorten, reroute, delay, or cancel because of heat, wind, lightning, flooding, visibility, fire restrictions, or trail conditions. Check Weather & Conditions and the group update before leaving.

Is a waiver required?

Participants may be required to complete the applicable liability waiver. A waiver does not replace personal responsibility or following leader instructions. Review Liability Waivers.

Do walks cost anything?

Most community walks are intended to be accessible, but an event may involve admission, parking, permits, transportation, supplies, or a stated contribution. Any cost will be listed with the event.

Can children or pets attend?

Only when the event specifically allows them. Trail conditions, park rules, heat, wildlife, and the gathering’s purpose vary. Contact us before assuming a child or pet can join.

What if I have a health or mobility concern?

Review the route honestly and consult an appropriate healthcare professional when needed. Tell the walk leader about relevant support needs before the group begins. Not every trail will be accessible, but we welcome a conversation about appropriate gatherings.

How are photos and personal stories handled?

We value consent and privacy. Ask before posting another participant’s identifiable image, reflection, or story. Tell the leader if you prefer not to be photographed.

How do I join GroupMe?

Visit GroupMe Community and request the current invitation. We share it directly so visitors do not receive an expired or uncontrolled link.

Where are the prayer and reflection resources?

Visit Prayer Cards, Reflection Cards, Prayer, and Selah. The card pages can be printed directly.

How can I volunteer, give, or partner?

Visit Support the Journey for service, contributions, merchandise, partnership, and sharing options. Review the donation policy before contributing.

What should I do in an emergency?

Call 911 for immediate danger or a medical emergency. GroupMe, contact forms, and walk leaders are not substitutes for emergency services.

Still wondering? We would rather answer the question before the trail than leave you uncertain at the trailhead.
